Day 60 – God’s Stamp of Approval

Ecclesiastes 9:7b …for God has already approved what you do.

Every time I read this verse I want to run for joy and do a praise break. While I am enjoying all that God has for me and while I am in the process of life, God approves of me. The Hebrew word for approved is Ratsah, which can also be translated as “to take pleasure in.” So, God takes pleasure when we find enjoyment in our life. Furthermore, even when we are going through trauma in our life, God takes pleasure in us.

This is the insane message of the Gospel – that God takes pleasure in you. Hebrews 13:21 says that [Jesus will] equip you with everything good that you may do his will, working in us that which is pleasing in his sight. So, while God is molding you into his image, he is pleased with you and approves of you as his child. Which means that God accepts us while we are in the process of being sanctified. (Sanctified is a churchy word that means to be made like Jesus). That God in heaven, the creator of the cosmos, is pleased and approves me now. Wow. There is no other religion like that.

There are times in my life that I feel inadequate and unqualified and there are times that I have doubts, fears, and feel far from God. Yet, in these times, God approves of me and is pleased with my process. Knowing that God loves us this much should cause us to find rest and enjoyment in whatever season we are in.

“The Christian does not think that God will love us because we are good, but that God will make us good because He loves us.” – C. S. Lewis
