A couple of weeks ago I told you about a ministry of Refuge Point Church called The Refuge Hub (read about it HERE). This ministry is going to meet physical and spiritual needs of an area that is in despair. In order for us to start operating out of this building, which was gifted to us, we needed $17,700. Well, God has provided and the work will begin in just a few weeks!!!
You have to understand the history of Refuge Point Church just to know how insane this is. Every time God tells us to do something major opposition is thrown at us…and we feel like our backs are against the wall. It’s in those moments where I know that God is about to do something spectacular. God does his best work when the situation looks impossible. The story that God is uniquely writing at Refuge Point Church is centered on the fact that God continues to display his glory and faithfulness…not because we are good…but because He is good. Clearly there are bigger things happening here than you and me.
I leave you with this verse that a Refugee (that’s slang for “a member Refuge Point Church”) reminded me of a couple of days ago. I can’t help to think that this is what Refuge Point Church is all about:
“If you pour yourself out for the hungry and satisfy the desire of the afflicted, then shall your light rise in the darkness and your gloom be as the noonday. And the Lord will guide you continually and satisfy your desire in scorched places and make your bones strong; and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail. And your ancient ruins shall be rebuilt; you shall raise up the foundations of many generations; you shall be called the repairer of the breach, the restorer of streets to dwell in.” (Isaiah 58:10-12 ESV)
Let’s continue to be the church and rebuild this city.
